Manicure Ideas - Fourth of July

Well, it has been some time since my last post, hasn't it? Finals, moving home from college, and not having my polishes with me for a good portion of May and June was enough to put a cork in any posts. However, I am back and ready to continue where I left off. I have a few post ideas from when I had a regular schedule in May, and I recently moved my collection into a Helmer, so expect a substantial post on that soon. Anyways, today's post features my Fourth of July themed manicure! Pictures and how-to are below the jump.

Rimmel London - Hot Chilli Pepper

Just a heads up, this will be my only post this weekend. Finals week approaches and I have many papers to write (the life of an English major, I suppose.) However, soon it will be summer, and posting will be back on the regular schedule, maybe even more often. In honor of summer, especially because it's been so cold recently, I am busting out the bright polishes. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Throwback Thursday - Nautical

It's Throwback Thursday again, folks. Today we are looking back at a very cute manicure I did to match a dress I own. You can see the pattern of it in the picture above. How-to and pictures are under the jump.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming...

...for a special announcement! (Or shameless self-promotion, whichever term you prefer) Ponies and Polish now has a Facebook page! If you enjoy the blog, go like the page! I would appreciate it very much. :)

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Coral Reef

For some reason, I have always associated corals with spring. For that reason, I decided to review one of my many corals for you all today! Today we have Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Coral Reef. This is the old formula, although I haven't picked up the new formula to compare the two, so I can't say if there are any differences between the two. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Revlon Brilliant Strength - Entice

I am a sucker for a mint green polish. Seriously, the mint greens in my collection could be sorted into their own section. I think I own more mint greens than I do yellows. But that is totally justified since yellow does not look good with my skin tone. Anyway, today I am reviewing one of my newest mint greens, Revlon Brilliant Strength Entice. Review and swatches can be found under the jump.

Pair Together - China Glaze For Audrey and Orly Saturated

There is something about these two polishes that just make sense together. I previously used them together in my Sun and Moon manicure, and Saturated was reviewed on its own. Today I'll be introducing a new type of blog post - Pair Together - where I will pull two polishes from my collection that complement each other and show a few different manicures that could be done using these two polishes. The ideas can all be found under the jump. I admit I will cheat a little in this post and will not only use China Glaze For Audrey and Orly Saturated - occasionally I will highlight glitters that work as accents.

L.A. Colors - Cactus

Cactus was a color I picked up on a whim during a Dollar General trip specifically because it was a different type of polish compared to my collection at that time. I still see it as an oddball in my collection, because I'm not sure where to group it. At the time I bought it, I thought it would fit well with my metallic polishes, but now I think it may be better off grouped with my browns. My review of this polish, along with swatches, is under the jump.

Zoya - Remy

The Ignite half of Zoya's Fall 2014 collection Entice and Ignite is probably one of my favorite collections of all time. The colors are so rich and the formulas on all of the ones I've tried (I own four out of the six polishes) have been fantastic. I picked up Yuna, Remy, and Sansa during Zoya's New Year, New Hue promotion in January. Originally, Sansa was the polish that really caught my attention, but Remy grew on me. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Throwback Thursday - Royalty

Welcome to Throwback Thursday! This time we have a manicure I did for fun back in January. This manicure is, in my opinion, a very classy and elegant one. The purple and gold evoke thoughts of royalty in my mind, which gives this manicure the very imaginative name of Royalty. Details on how to do this manicure are under the jump.

Manicure Ideas - Easter

Happy Easter! Today I have a very simple manicure for you all to rock on this holiday. An explanation and swatches can be found under the jump.

Spoiled - Are Mermaids Real?

There is something about purple polish with gold shimmer that I love. Are Mermaids Real? from wet n wild's Spoiled line (exclusive to CVS) is no exception. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Revlon - Matte Pearl Glaze

Today we take a break from reviewing polishes that can be worn on their own to review one that can't. Revlon's Matte Pearl Glaze is part of their Transforming Effects line - a line of top coats to "transform your manicure" and "create unique effects." I picked up Matte Pearl Glaze solely because I was curious as to what matte pearl would actually look like. Review and swatches are under the jump.

O.P.I. - My Pointe Exactly

I mentioned in my Flower Power review that I have a fondness for milky sheer polishes. This is the polish that started that fondness. It was originally bought because I was looking for a nice light gray. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but it grew on me. My Pointe Exactly is from O.P.I.'s 2012 New York City Ballet collection, which was their Soft Shades collection for that year. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Orly - Saturated

This polish was shown a week ago in my Sun and Moon manicure, and is one of my personal favorite polishes. Saturated was part of Orly's Summer 2014 collection, Baked. It took me a few tries to get an accurate bottle shot of this polish. The image above was taken in direct sunlight, and it still isn't quite right. Additional bottle shots, along with my review and swatches are under the jump.

Throwback Thursday - Phantom of the Opera

Welcome to Throwback Thursday, where I talk about manicures I've worn previously. For this first post, I will be discussing the manicure I wore to see The Phantom of the Opera back in February. Details and swatches are under the jump.

SinfulColors - Flower Power

As far as reviews go, I am two for two on the type of polish reviewed - a pink glitter from Sinful Colors. Flower Power is part of the 2015 Bloom Blast collection. Judging by their website this polish (and the other two like it from the collection) are meant to be worn as a top coat. However, I found the polish to be wearable on its own. Full review and swatches can be found under the jump.

Manicure Ideas - Sun and Moon

Yesterday, I posted a review of a polish. Today, I'll be showing the another aspect of this blog - manicure ideas. This manicure is called "Sun and Moon." The polishes used and my thoughts on this manicure are under the jump, along with additional pictures.

SinfulColors - Pinky Glitter

As I am writing this, it is currently my spring break. Between marathoning Doctor Who and studying for the midterms I have after break, I needed something girly and happy to pick up my mood. Cue SinfulColors Pinky Glitter - the result of a recent drugstore run. It is the perfect combination of pink and glitter to brighten up my day. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Hello, Blog World

My name is Macie, and this is my obligatory first blog post. A little about myself - I am a current college student who is obsessed with nail polish and has been riding horses for many years. My purpose in this blog is to chronicle and review my extensive nail polish collection. I probably will occasionally stray from this to talk about things completely unrelated, as well as stopping posting completely during busy times - like midterms and finals. This blog will not only cover my reviews of polishes. I will also post manicures, my methods of organization, nail care products, and more. If you decide to follow this blog, great! I hope you enjoy the ride. :)
