Revlon - Matte Pearl Glaze

Today we take a break from reviewing polishes that can be worn on their own to review one that can't. Revlon's Matte Pearl Glaze is part of their Transforming Effects line - a line of top coats to "transform your manicure" and "create unique effects." I picked up Matte Pearl Glaze solely because I was curious as to what matte pearl would actually look like. Review and swatches are under the jump.

Since Matte Pearl Glaze is a top coat, I used it over two basic colors - Spoiled by wet n wild Visually Slimming (ring and pinkie) and wet n wild Wild Shine French White Crème (index and middle.) This top coat gives nails a subtle shimmer while simultaneously making the polish underneath matte. I'm not entirely sure where to classify the shimmer color-wise. Over Visually Slimming it looks purple, while over French White Crème it is more of a pink. Pinkish-purple, maybe? Not only does the shimmer's color look different, but the effect it has on the polish underneath also changes depending on the base color. When layered over French White Crème, Matte Pearl Glaze doesn't change the color of the polish. Over Visually Slimming, it transforms the black into a purple polish. The shimmer is also very subtle over French White Crème. My camera had trouble picking it up in a lot of the shots.

Since this is a top coat and not an actual polish, I will not be rating this polish with stars. While this top coat does look very pretty, I can't see myself using it very often. I already own a matte top coat and the majority of the polishes I wear already have a shimmer in them.
