It's Throwback Thursday again, folks. Today we are looking back at a very cute manicure I did to match a dress I own. You can see the pattern of it in the picture above. How-to and pictures are under the jump.
Originally, my manicure for this dress was going to involve an anchor in some way to match the dress. However, as I have stated many times before, I am terrible at nail art. After doing some research on nautical type things, I decided to make my nails stand out from my dress by making them red and white stripes, with navy incorporated as an accent nail.
To do this manicure, I pulled out Wet n Wild megalast I Red a Good Book, a white striping polish, and appropriately, Zoya Sailor. I Red a Good Book went on all nails except my ring finger. I believe I used two coats to get it opaque enough. Two coats of Sailor then went on my ring finger. I used the striping polish (the one I used is by L.A. Colors, but any would do) to add the stripes on red. The red on my pinky nail wasn't completely dry when I put the stripes on for the pictures below, so that nail is a little messed up. I also still need practice with a steady hand when doing stripes. I'm thinking about investing in some striping tape for the next time I do this manicure.
Overall, I'm happy with how this manicure turned out both times I did it. The red and white stripes compliment the navy of the dress while still standing out from it.
